About the  webmaster
You might be interested to know a bit about me. I came to American Samoa in 1966. I am a printer and graphic artist by trade.

During the past 40 years I have been in many business ventures and enjoyed many adventures. I have always enjoyed bringing new, leading edge things to American Samoa. Now I am winding down and attempting to keep up with technology. One of my favorite projects has been producing the local telephone directory, which you can find on this site.

I consider this site development a real challenge and it keeps me busy just trying to learn all this new stuff. I have recently changed over to Macromedia site building products. If you see faults in my site please let me know.

About this site
This web site has been many things over the past 10 years. I started off showing a bunch of pictures and trying to learn how to build a site.

In 1999, I decided to try e-commerce. That was a big job in those days. I never sold much and I learned how difficult it can be to create attractive web pages to sell products.

Next, I changed the title of the site to Ugly American Samoa because I was sick and tired of seeing these beautiful islands destroyed by the litter of modern times. There were hundreds of photographs showing what a mess we had here. I took considerable criticism but, at the end of the day, all the problems I showed on the site were corrected or work was undertaken to make improvements.

More recently I have been experimenting with developing the site into a place for people to discuss issues on American Samoa and to show more of the beauty.  The site is now produced in Drupal, which adds new functionality.  The transition to Drupal does not come without some pain and there are times I wish I had stayed with Dreamweaver.

Nothing in Particular!

Hi John!
Just saying Hello! How are things going with the rebuilding efforts? If it's like what we went through here around New Orleans,you probably have an over abundance of things you don't need and not enough of the things you really do need!Your Grandkids,Brian,Neta,Sena and Jerome all seem to be doing just fine.Jerome's new Jeep is really nice and he seems to be Happy here! Well,just touching base. Please let us know if there is anything specific you need and we may be able to help with!Take Care!! Seth

John; I am retied from the US

John;

I am retied from the US Navy & now I'm retired from the workforce too. Looking to something different with the rest of my life, I'm 66 & was thinking of moving to American Samoa to live.

Good, Bad, or just a crazy idea in you mind. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
Steve
