Faleomavaega: U.S. continues to ignore Pacific.
APIA, Samoa (Samoa Observer, Jan. 9, 2010) - Samoa’s lone voice in the United States Congress has blasted President Barack Obama in relation to Hillary Clinton’s visit to the Pacific.
Congressman Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin has accused the United States of “fly-by diplomacy” over the U.S. Secretary of State’s visit.
In what’s being classed as her first official visit to the Pacific, Clinton is scheduled to visit Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea.
“I am truly disappointed that President Obama, whom I supported and endorsed from the beginning of his presidential campaign, did not weigh in upon learning that Secretary Clinton’s first visit to the Pacific region excluded all Pacific Island nations except Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea,” said Faleomavaega.
At a minimum, the President or the Secretary could have easily called for a summit of Foreign Ministers from the island nations to meet in Samoa, Hawaii, or even New Zealand.
“That this was not done shows a lack of sensitivity for the region and sends a message that some 15 Pacific Island nations are not an important or integral part of our U.S. foreign policy objectives.
Faleomavaega said that is “the wrong message to send.” “The U.S. cannot afford to take for granted the sacrifices Pacific Island nations have made on our behalf,” said Faleomavaega.

No Way we can allow this to continue
There has simply got to be some way to convey at the grassroots how much damage Eni has done to American Samoa for the rest of the Obama administration. There is no way Rahm Emanuel is going to give Eni anything on his agenda for the rest of the Obama administration for this kind of insubordination. He is now thoroughly damaged goods and has to be dumped this fall, no ifs ands or buts.
What should we do if no one is to stand up?
There are so many ways to look at this, but I think I am going to look at it through Eni's prospective. Eni is only saying that because you invest time, money and forces why not see what you are investing in and tending to matters that could be prevented or discovered by a simple visit. I mean it seems like Big Brother is not watching. Do you expect a congressman who has supported Obama to sit back and just not say anything. How would you like it if you worked so hard in a relationship and nothing was mentioned or considered of you or what you have done? Would you not get offended or hurt. I give Eni praise for not sitting back and biting his tongue. I mean what kind of government is that? The people of American Samoa elected Eni to speak on their behalf. Given the current economic condition in American Samoa and the recent disaster the least the Secretary of State Hilary Clinton could have done was visit American Samoa. I understand that the President may or may not have know the agenda of Mrs. Hilary Clinton, but I seriously think Eni in all right should keep on saying what he has to say.

Congress F. Eni is the best Congress of Am. Samoa
Great work Eni! Faamalo fai le faiva and thank you for your service for the people of Samoa and the Pacific Islanders and Asia. Every Leader has his or her own ways of leading. But it is all up to the people to supprot that Leader or not. As for the Samoans all over the world and all, please join me to support whoever runs for the U.S. Congress of the people of Samoa. Congress F.Eni did well and he is still doing well at the White House. Unless, I hear and see anyone who steps in his footsteps and let me know that it will be better than Congress F.Eni then I will humbly step down and support you. But for now, only Congress Eni is the one who sits in office and fight for the right of the people of Samoa. What he did, he thought it was the best thing to do. Why don't you write to all Congress and assist Congress F.Eni in representing the people of Samoa rather than spending time reading and writing on this forum?
Now maybe the Obama Administration will include all other Pacific Island territories/nations after what Congress F.Eni told him. Special Thanks go to Congres F.Eni for your outlook. Look Okaoka and the rest of you that spoke or disagreed with Congress Eni; here is the deal, if you don't speak up on behalf of the people you represent, stand up for what you believe in, or let your voice be heard, nothing or no one will do anything about it. That is how democracy works. You stand up and fight for your right,and the right of others. Congress F.Eni has been forever a Congress of Am. Samoa and I will be darn to see and hear all these remarks from all these people especially Newton John. I hope that you are not a Samoan. I am hoping that the people of Samoa are supporting Congress Eni. I give respect for the person who sits in that office and I will assist anyone who will fight as hard as Congress F.Eni. Probably I will be the next future Cancidate for the people of Samoa.
Stop your crticism and attacking of other people and step up and assist and support that person. If you see that person is doing wrong then let that person know how to improve and help him or her to improve if you think you know better or you know a better way to do things. Stop this nonsense and work together to make Samoa a better place and the best one too in life.

Thank you for the opportunity to give a brief comment or note. Thank you Eni for your dedication to the people of Samoa. However, the first and foremost are the honor and thanks that we "all" must give to our Heavenly Father and God of our country(ies). Yes, countries! If you are a Samoan and reside in the US of America, you have two countries. Therefore, you must realize and understand that even though you have or support two countries, your first and foremost responsibility is to your GOD. While I am truly aware of the times we are now in; the people of Samoa, Tutuila, Upolu, Savaii, Manua and all the other little ones; you as a people must come to one decision and one decision only! God's WORD says, you cannot serve two Gods... in other words, you are either for God's Kingdom or man's kingdom... so if you are in man's kingdom, then you can support whatever it is "this government" is doing and continue to do while the people are just sitting back and watch them do it. But if you are for and working for God's Kingdom, then their opinions and practices should not even bother you. But what should matter to you is what are you are doing for your countries as well as for yourself. What? I can't believe what she's saying!!! is what most of your are saying now... Trust me when I say this, I'm not a Holier than Thou person, never have and never will be because there is only one that is such and that is our Most High God, the Almighty, the Holy Trinity; God, His Son Jesus Christ & the Holy Spirit! If you believe in this, and walk, live & practice this, then what the President of the United States or anyone of his cabinet or in the political arena is saying or doing shouldn't even affect you. The one and only responsibility you have is to pray for them. Pray that their decisions are to Honor God, not themselves. Pray that their walk is for God's Glory, not for Man... Because if what you do and think in your heart, mind and soul is not for God, your dreams, aspirations, future goals will never prosper unless you put God first in your life! So I'm saying this to say, don't talk about or try to change others, the solution starts with you... You ask God to work on you first, then you can help others!
